I noticed last night while Dawn & I were out shopping that there are a lot of really cute shoes out there right now. I was looking for a new pair of flip flops, since it’s Spring now & all (it snowed today, of course). I’m really picky about the type I’ll wear, so sometimes, they’re very hard to find. I actually found a pair almost immediately, so Dawn decided to try to find some that were easier to put on than the ones she had already bought.
We found ourselves in amongst all of the cute, new high heels & I tried on a few pair that looked like those I had worn as a teen. I found out I still loved them jut as much as I had then. I wish I had more occasions to wear them, because I’d buy a pair if I did. Dawn never found a pair of sandals that would work & she won’t wear flip flops, so we gave up & went on about our business.
I spent some time looking at Dansko shoes the other day, after Nance mentioned them on her blog, Dysfunction Junction, but I didn’t really find any I loved enough to justify the cost. They were cute enough & look really comfortable, but since I’ve never worn a pair, I wouldn’t know if they’ll fit my feet or not & that’s a lot to spend on shoes that may not fit me.

By now, all of you know that I love a good sale, right? Did any of you know that Troy & I also make mead (it’s a wine made from honey & fruit)? I just bottled a batch a couple of weeks ago that I made with lime & cranberry, which turned out wonderfully. We have a corker & foil collars for the bottle necks, so the bottles come out looking very nice when we’re all finished. One of our main problems, is that we don’t have a lot of space to store it when we’re finished bottling it & none of those places are ideal, as far as light & temperature go. It’s pretty uncommon to have a wine cellar in a mobile home, after all. I just found some thing that would be perfect for us, though!

It’s an Oster 12 bottle wine cellar! It’s really cool, the door is partially mirrored, so you can see inside & see what you have in there, it has 6 shelves & can hold up to 12 bottles, with an electric temperature control that displays on the exterior, so you always know that your wine is being kept at the right temperature. I would love to have this & for $59.99 it’s quite a bargain. I don’t see us being able to come up with that right away, between the hospital bill & taxes that are due, but it sure makes me wish we could!

Our town got a new store this past weekend & I ended up visiting it twice yesterday. My daughter texted me and wanted to know if I wanted to go with her & look around the store, so I went & got her & we did just that. We spent quite a long time just wandering around & looking at everything. It’s one of those close-out stores, so they have a lot of really great deals in there. I came home when I was done & starting telling Troy about it, so we ended up going so that he could check it out, too.
We ended up grabbing some snack stuff that was really cheap and looked at the garden area. They had these really cool seashell wind chimes that I’d love to get, if the wind here wasn’t so crazy in the summer that it’s end up in the neighbor’s yard. There were some really gorgeous gazebo-type things too, that were about twice the size of the one I use for my faire booth & beautiful lawn furniture. I meant to look and see if they had any large tarps & some strong industrial clamps to hold them on, in case it rains at faire again this year, since there is no other way to keep weather out of my booth. We snagged up a 4gig HP flashdrive & a 4gig HP SD card for $10 each, too, since we spent the same amount not too long ago on 1gig stuff.
At any rate, I could spend a lot of money in that store & already have a few purchases planned for payday, mostly for the booth & household finances, but I am planning to go back. My dad just called to ask if we’d been in & told me they’d bought my mom a new Serta mattress & box springs for about $220. I wish we were able to get a n new one, but we’ll wait & save up to get one, the regular price is still very affordable.

When Troy got his year-end bonus from work back in December, we spent a lot of time thinking about what we wanted to get with it. We finally decided on an XBox 360 & Rock Band 2 (with all of the various controllers). We were only able to afford the Arcade version, which doesn’t include the hard drive or anything else, really. So far, we’ve bought several normal controllers for it, added a small hard drive & have been trying to save up for the other things we need.
Well, since it’s a new week, I decided to check up on the weekly sale over at Buy.com. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular, I just really love to pop over there & see what great deals they have from week to week. They have some great stuff this week, and I was thrilled to find this:

It’s the XBox 360 Wireless Adapter we’ve been trying to save up for! The best part of it is, it’s $30 cheaper than everywhere else we’ve seen it & the shipping is free!Everywhere we’ve looked is offering this for $99.99 plus shipping & handling, even the auction sites. Buy.com has it this week for $69.99 with the free shipping deal. I can’t beat that anywhere & will definitely be talking to Troy about it when he gets home, just to make sure he still wants it, then I’m getting it. I’m so excited & know he will be, too, because the cost is the only reason we’ve been putting it off. We’ll finally be on the way to getting our XBox Live subscription! Yay!!

I love getting a good deal on things when I shop, and because of that I look forward to the weekly sale over at Buy.com, every week. If you’ve never checked out their weekly ad, you really ought to head over there & do it, they always have some really phenomenal deals & you never know if something you’ve been wanting is on sale this week if you don’t check.
There are a lot of gift-giving occasions coming, at least there are in my life & I’m sure it’s pretty much the same all over, with graduations coming up & spring & summer weddings and all that. I have a lot of birthdays in the coming months, too & that was kind if what I was looking for ideas for gifts for today. I always seem to be at a loss for things to get for my mom & my daughter on their birthdays, so sometimes I start looking months in advance. Anyway, I was looking for something for either of them & saw this cool photo keychain!

I think it would be perfect for my mom, because she could have pictures of her grandchildren on it & I could change them when I take new pictures on the holidays & whenever we all get together & spend time together. That way it would serve as an inspiration for me to use my camera more at family gatherings. I can’t believe the price on it, either, it’s only $9.99! I could get that for her for Mother’s Day & get her something else for her birthday with a price like that, not to mention that the shipping is absolutely free, too. There’s no way I could even come close to finding anything in this town for anywhere near that price. I’m honestly thinking of getting a couple of them & putting one away in my gift box for next Christmas, I’m sure that I’d have no problems finding someone who would want one, I have so many friends with young children & grandchildren. If nothing else, I’d be happy to have it myself.

The other day we were setting everything up to play Rock Band 2 with Erin, which involves getting the drums all put together, adding the cymbals and all of that. Erin was getting the computer chair fixed so the back didn’t wiggle & we all got to talking about whether they make a chair or stool you can buy for the drums, which turned into me talking about a cool ottoman that has a built-in storage area for the instruments & microphone and all. We got distracted when the dog knocked the Xbox 260 off the place it was & gouged the game & the ensuing chaos from that, so we forgot about it.
I was looking at the weekly sale at Best Buy, hoping to get a few ideas for future gifts & I wouldn’t want to miss out on a great deal. I found a few cool things that I would have liked to have for myself, but I wasn’t supposed to be looking at stuff for me. So I looked around a little more & guess what I found? A really cool Gaming Drum Seat. I couldn’t believe the great price they’re offering it for, too, including shipping it’s under $30.00, which honestly puts it among the lowest priced accesories I’ve considered adding to the game. I think that I’m going to see how much we have left this week after bills and gas & if we have the extra, I’ll show the ad to Troy & see what he thinks about it. If he likes it & thinks it’ll add to the game in a positive way, I think I’ll order it.

Recently, we were given the opportunity to review a tiny
rc helicopter, from Think RC. This little helicopter is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and includes a remote control that acts as a charger. It took us about 15-20 minutes to charge the six, AA batteries. When Troy turned it on, it lit up with cool blue lights & a blinking, realistic light, too. There is quite a learning curve in getting it off the ground & actually flying, but Troy got a lot of laughs out of it & the cats really didn’t have any idea what to think about it. He did manage to get it off the ground & flying a few times & it looks really neat flying through the house. As a note to those of you who may be considering getting one, these are designed to fly inside, so you probably shouldn’t take it outside & fly it, you may lose it or something.
The website says that you get 6-8 minutes of flying time from the lithium polymer rechargeable battery inside the helicopter, but Troy got more time than that, so I guess it depends on exactly what you’re doing with it & I imagine that getting off the ground and flying consistently probably uses more juice than just learning to fly it. The rotors are easy to take off & clean things out of them like hair & such, too, and they even sell replacement parts for them, so if you’re pretty tough on them, you can replace the rotors, too.
If you’re a patient person, who doesn’t mind taking time to learn how to use a new toy, I recommend trying these little helicopters out, they look cool & I think that Troy and the kids will have a lot of fun with it as they learn to fly it.

Troy & I braved the crowds this morning to try to get an mp3 player for Erin for Christmas. I felt bad for Troy, he was having to make sure no one bumped into him & was getting fatigued, too. There were so many people already there, lined up by the stacks of merchandise when we got there at 4:45, I couldn’t believe it. They had a guy on the intercom, counting down the time & by the time the sale actually started, I had the two pairs of jeans I was getting for Rhi staked out & had Troy off in the background, waiting with the cart.
I went through that area trying to get whatever they still had that we wanted & by the time we made it back to electronics, there was only one of the mp3 players we wanted left & Troy couldn’t get over to it to grab it. That’s okay, we got him a different one that he’ll like just as much, I think & Troy grabbed me a nice camera, too. I swear, some people see a good price on something & they just grab it up, even if they have no idea who they’re buying it for. I think they could stock grass skirts & bamboo shades in the middle of winter & if the price was low enough, people would be filling their carts with them.
I’m just hoping that the clothes I bought Rhi will fit her, I know the jeans will, just not sure about a couple of other things. If not, that’s okay, I’m sure she’ll find someone who can wear them & it’s not like I paid that much for them to begin with. So, what about all of you, did you go out shopping this morning? Did you get any great deals?

It feels like it’s going to be a busy week for me, but it might just be busy in the first half. Today I took Rhi to get her check, and to cash it. Then she wanted to get a couple of shirts. We finished that up & came home. At 3 Troy has to go see his diabetes educator to have his A1C checked & talk about his insulin regimen. After that Rhi works until 9 or so & then we can relax. I don’t think we’re doing much, so I’m going to work on a little book binding. Wednesday, I need to get to to UrgentCare place first thing so I can get my flu shot, then I have to pick up my sister-in-law & my mom & head down to St. George. We told her we’d take her down for her birthday, so we are. I won’t have any money to spend, but it’ll be nice to get out of town for a day.
I’ve been wanting to try to find a pair of shoes for winter & I keep seeing those shoes advertised in magazines that they call “the anti-shoe” that are made by MBT shoes. They look kind of strange (but so do the ones I’m wearing), but if they were comfortable & helped my back pain at all, I’d wear them. Have any of you ever tried any on? Do you own some? If so, what do you think about them? Are they worth the money?Should I look into them further?

See that purple lid on my soda can? That, my friends, is the best thing that I’ve bought this summer. It may be the best thing I’ve bought in months. It’s called a Snap Capp & you just open the can, and snap it on the top. (they’re really easy to use, too!) It keeps your drink from spilling, going flat & most important to me, it keeps bees & wasps out of it. Why is that so important to me? Well, I’m not allergic or anything, but when I was a little girl, I got stung on the tongue by an angry yellow jacket & now I’m terrified of them, especially in or near my drinks.
I bought mine at Walgreen’s, but you can get them online, too. I think I paid $2.50 each for mine (I bought Troy one, too), and I think it was worth every penny! The main company website is working on making them available for purchase at their site, too, so keep checking that one.
