Almost a New Year

We had a pretty good time at my parents’ house on Christmas, even though my sister-in-law was in a bad mood (it was my dad’s fault) and didn’t really participate. She didn’t even eat with the rest of us, she hid in the kitchen by herself. She did finally come in when it was time to open presents and all of that & I think she started realizing that it wasn’t everyone else’s fault that dad has an odd sense of humor.

My family draws names for gift-giving & my dad got my name this year. He bought me a Bailey’s gift set, with a bottle of Bailey’s & some really pretty glasses. I was so happy to get that, and am saving it for my birthday next month. Troy got a nice pocket knife from my brother, and while he really didn’t need one because he has a Leatherman, he really appreciated it.

We spent the afternoon playing Wii Sports with the family & had a lot of fun. I really want one now, especially after we spent hours at Dawn & Jason’s last night playing. Dawn & I were loud & funny, but I blame part of that on good beer & Wild Vines wine, it was a great night, but it’s time to get back on track with my eating plan & going to the gym, I’ve slacked off for far too long this past week or so.

I’m really hoping all of this healthcare reform talk actually turns into action so that my friends can get low cost health insurance and be able to handle all of their health issues. Dawn needs so much done at this point & isn’t able to because she’ll be losing her Medicaid next week. She has carpal tunnel syndrome so badly that she has to take a break between each dish she washes to get the feeling back in her hands. She drives with one hand now so that she can switch between them as she loses feeling in one. It’s just terrible for her and she has no idea what she’s going to do now.

Caffeinate me!
